Chair in Ageing
Lancaster University has a world-class reputation as a centre for excellence in teaching and research. It is in the top one per cent of universities in the world and highly ranked in each of the UK’s major university league tables. The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine is seeking to appoint a Professor in Ageing to join an innovative division with a high quality research active environment offering a range of courses.
You should have already established an excellent track record in the field of health-related Ageing/Gerontology, including recent publications in internationally recognised journals, success in education, and experience of administrative duties. Applicants with a social science background in any area of ageing related to health will be considered, but we would particularly welcome applicants whose expertise builds on existing strengths around ageing including: dementia, new models of care and/or health technology. You will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the Division and to maintain a high quality research agenda that reaches out to external networks of collaborators. As well as taking a lead role in promoting the Ageing Theme within the Division and Faculty, you will also be expected to co-direct Lancaster University Centre for Ageing Research with a view to taking on the sole directorship one year from appointment.
The Faculty provides a research environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.
