The Concordia University Research Chair in Aging and Public Policy is offering a 2 year postdoctoral fellowship for a research project on the politics of social gerontology. We are seeking someone who will contribute to the Asian portion of the project.
The Concordia University Research Chair (CURC) in Aging and Public Policy offers a two-year postdoctoral position in a stimulating multidisciplinary environment. The postdoctoral fellow will join a research team studying the institutional and political factors facilitating (or hindering) the development of innovative social policies that improve the autonomy of older individuals in twenty post-industrial countries. This project also involves field work in five countries (Canada, USA, Sweden, France and Japan/Korea). The postdoctoral fellow will complement the expertise of other team members and will contribute primarily to developing the South Korean (or Japanese) component of this research project led by chairholder Dr. Patrik Marier. In addition, the fellow is expected to participate in other phases of this research project including: a) the creation of an innovative social gerontological policy index; b) the comparative analysis across countries.

Beyond this research project, the fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Meghan Joy, whose work focuses on urban issues surrounding aging. There are also ample opportunities to participate in the ongoing activities of affiliated research centres, research teams and other CURC research projects, as well as develop networks with research partners: practitioners and managers of social services, community organizations and public agencies.
